I have just installed a Tenda Nova MW6 mesh sytem, which has given me a strong WiFi signal all over my house. The wireless setup wizard on my printer doesn't seem to be able to connect to the new wireless network. Any suggestions on how to go about this?

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Your Printer only supports 2.4 GHz. Make sure the Wi-Fi is on the same thing.

We can also reset the network settings on the Printer and try connecting it to the network again:

From the Home screen, touch (Wireless) and then touch ( Settings ). 2. Touch Restore Network Settings, and then follow the onscreen instructions. 3. Print the network configuration page and verify that the network settings have been reset.

Let me know if this helps.

Thanks!

Have a great day!

Many thanks for this. There are some things that I need to clarify. First of all, you say that the printer only supports 2.5GHz. Under 'advanced settings' there is a switch that says '5 GHz Band Frequency' are you saying that I should have this switched off, or is this referring to something else.

I restored the original network settings as you suggested.

My Tenda Nove MW6 mesh system gives me the option to switch to just 2.5g, so I switched this on, and I still get the same problem. When I run the wizard, the name of the network that I want to connect to is listed; when I select this the next screen gives the name, and it also says 'Security: No Encryption' (which is perhaps the problem?); when I select 'OK' it then moves to a screen saying 'connecting' where it waits for some time, and then returns a message saying that it cannot connect. This happens whether I have the 5 GHz switch on or off.

I have found a temporary workaround, which may help you think of a better solution! I have a wireless range extender, which I have plugged in near the printer, and which is set to 2.5GHz, I have connected this to my mesh network, and then connected the printer to the range extender's signal. With this method, it connected quickly, and I can now see my printer as an air printer, and it is working fine. I would, of course, rather not use the range extender, as the signal from my mesh is very strong in my office.

A work around isn't really a solution in this case. I would dearly like not to connect via an unnecessary range extender!

Can you look at the previous paragraph in my previous post as see if there is anything else that you can suggest regarding connecting directly to the mesh network?

Firmware was already up-to-date.

Do you think that it is the encryption/security issue that I mentioned above?

@Ralph451

This might require one on one interaction to fix the issue.

I request you to talk to HP support.

They might have multiple options to help you with this.

  1. Click on this link - https://support.hp.com/us-en/contact-hp?openCLC=true
  2. Select the country.
  3. Enter the serial of your device.
  4. Select the country from the drop-down.
  5. Click on "Show Options".
  6. Fill the web-form. A case number and phone number will now populate for you.

I hope that helps.

Hi, I have the same problem and I think it's related to the different subnetworks between the main router and the Mesh system.

In my case, the main router created a 192.168.1.x network, while the Mesh master created a 192.168.5.x network; i guess that the two networks aren't "bridged" from a printer sharing perspective.

Perhaps this can help someone in fixing this, I asked for help on Quora about this and I'm currently waiting for answers.

Had the same issue.  No updates to firmware available.  Managed to connect to mobile hotspot network no problem.

Managed to connect a non-HP printer no problem.

So it is rubbish HP, probably making you buy a newer printer by not updating firmware IMHO.

Never buying an HP again
