Hi @Bobg78,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are getting an error "printer blocked" status with a constant "i" light on the HP ENVY Pro 6455 All-in-One Printer, which typically indicates an error condition requiring attention. Let's troubleshoot step by step:

Step 1: Check for Paper Jams

  1. Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  2. Open the paper path covers and inspect:
    • The input and output trays.
    • Inside the printer near the rollers and cartridge area.
    • The rear access door or duplexer (if applicable).
  3. Gently remove any stuck paper or debris.
  4. Close all covers securely.

Step 2: Reset the Printer

  1. Unplug the printer's power cord from the back of the printer and the wall outlet.
  2. Wait for 3-5 minutes.
  3. Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet and then into the printer.
  4. Turn the printer back on and check if the issue persists.

Step 3: Check the Ink Cartridges

  1. Open the cartridge access door and verify that both cartridges are properly installed.
  2. Remove and reinstall the cartridges to ensure they are seated correctly.
  3. Check for any tape or debris obstructing the cartridges or contacts.
  4. Close the door and see if the printer initializes.

Step 4: Resolve "i" Light Error

  • Press the "i" button to see if an error code or message appears on the HP Smart app or your computer screen.
  • Follow any on-screen instructions for resolving the issue.

Step 5: Restart and Update the Printer

  1. Restart your computer and ensure it is connected to the same WiFi as the printer.
  2. Open the HP Smart app and check for firmware updates.
    • Go to Settings > Printer Maintenance > Update Printer and install any available updates.

Step 6: Advanced Printer Reset

If the issue persists:

  1. Perform a factory reset:
    • On the printer panel, press and hold both the Wireless and Cancel buttons for 5-10 seconds.
    • Release the buttons when the printer restarts.
  2. Reconnect the printer to your WiFi network using the HP Smart app.

Step 7: Temporary USB Printing

If you urgently need to print:

  1. Connect the printer to your computer using a USB cable.
  2. Install the printer as a local device in Windows:
    • Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners.
    • Click Add a Printer and follow the prompts to add the printer via USB.
