Got the printhead error today and this is what I found. This inside the printhead where the spring contact, contacts the board, the gold is bubbling up from the corrosion underneath. The photos labeled 1 & 2. 1 is as I found it 2 is after trying to clean the contact next to it, as you can see the gold is gone and what is left is the copper trace under it. A new printhead is expensive HP wants $151.62 + freight that's 1/4th of the price of the printer. How is this justified? Either that or a new printer.

I'm a retired electrical engineer and have been repairing OLD!  audio gear for the last 7 years and have never had this problem on a circuit board (corrosion under gold contacts) My rant. # 1# 1# 2# 2
