I'm sorry to hear you're encountering the critical error code C5:9F:A6:0B when printing PDFs on your HP MFP 3301 printer from your MacBook Air running macOS. Let's work through some troubleshooting steps to resolve this issue:

Restart Devices:

  • Printer: Turn off your HP MFP 3301 printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for about 60 seconds, then plug it back in and power it on.
  • MacBook Air: Restart your MacBook to refresh system processes.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • Outdated firmware can lead to compatibility issues.
  • Visit the HP Support website to check for the latest firmware updates for your HP MFP 3301 printer.
  • Download and install any available firmware updates following the provided instructions.

Update or Reinstall Printer Drivers:

  1. Download the latest drivers from the HP Support website.
  2. To reinstall the printer on your MacBook:
  • Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
  • Select your HP MFP 3301 printer and click the button to remove it.
  • Click the + button to add the printer again, selecting the newly installed driver.

Reset Printing System on Mac:

  • This can resolve underlying issues with the printing setup.
  • Navigate to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
  • Right-click (or Control-click) in the printer list and choose Reset printing system.
  • After resetting, re-add your HP MFP 3301 printer.

Test with Different PDF Files and Applications:

  • The issue might be related to specific PDF files or the application used for printing.
  • Try printing different PDFs to see if the problem persists.
  • Use alternative PDF readers, such as Adobe Acrobat Reader, to determine if the issue is application-specific.

Check for Paper Jams or Hardware Issues:

  • Ensure there are no paper jams or obstructions in the printer.
  • Inspect the toner cartridges and other components for proper installation.
