I recycled my old printer and replaced it with a new HP inkjet.

Should I uninstall the old software?

Yes,  you can certainly do that.

If the software for the "old" printer was the Full Feature Software for that printer,

Look for the printer software and Uninstall the software from Control Panel > icon view > Programs and Features

Wait awhile - after the software is gone, Restart the computer and log in.

Check - printer software for unwanted printer should be gone.

What if?

If there are "bits" of the old printer still hanging out in Control Panel > icon view > Devices and Printers

Right-Click on the unwanted printer name > Remove the device

If the software for the old printer was connected to HP Smart for Windows

you can open the HP Smart for Windows application

Click on that "unwanted" printer (if there is more than one listed) > Settings

Scroll down > Forget this printer
