Deskjet 2622 unknown symbol and undescribed blinking

HP Recommended
Deskjet 2622
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

@Sandytechy20 : thank you for your suggestions on topic https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Inkjet-Printing/Deskjet-2622-unknown-symbol-and-undescribed-blinking/m....

I asked my uncle to perform the steps, but it didn't help.

It also appears to be illogical though, since the printer prints test pages as expected.

I therefore recommended to return the printer for warranty repair to my uncle.

Nevertheless he today asked again for my help. But I don't have any further ideas.

I'm still confused about the undescribed symbol, blinking in an area of the display where no symbol is expected:

"It has an ink drop icon upper right, a horizontal bar in the bottom, and  is somehow rounded from the lower left to the drop.

And it's placed in the blank area on the right side of the display, just above the ink level icon, right of the wifi icon (see second graphik on https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c05374129)."

Do you - or anyone around - have any idea, what this might stand for? And how it might be solved?

Regards,

Shorsh

Welcome to the HP support community.

Clean the electrical contacts

  1. Turn the printer on.

  2. Open the door to access the cartridges.

  3. Wait until the carriage stops moving before you continue.

  4. Remove the cartridge indicated in the error message from its slot, holding it by its side.

       CAUTION:

Do not touch the copper-colored contacts or the ink nozzles. Touching these parts can result in clogs, ink failure, and bad electrical connections.

  5. Remove any protective tape that still might be on the contacts.

       CAUTION:

Do not touch or try to remove the copper electrical strip.

Remove the plastic tape and do not touch the contacts or ink nozzles

  6. Lightly dampen a lint-free cloth with distilled water, and then clean only the copper-colored contacts on the cartridge.

  7. Lightly dampen a lint-free cloth with distilled water, and then clean the electrical contacts in the carriage, located inside the printer.

    The carriage contacts

  8. Wait 10 minutes for the contacts to dry.

  9. Reinsert the cartridge.

    • Insert the black cartridge into the right slot.

    • Insert the tri-color cartridge into the left slot.

  10. Repeat these steps for the other cartridge, if necessary.

  11. Close the cartridge access door.

  12. If the error persists, repeat the previous steps to clean the cartridge and carriage contacts a second time.

  13. Check for the error message.

thanks for your reply!

I will try the coming days when I find some time to visit my uncle.

Nevertheless: does it make sense, that the printer prints test pages well though the contacts cause it to refuse printing regular pages?
