Every time the HP DeskJet 2700 printer turns on, it prints an alignment test page and waits for this page to be scanned. This wastes paper and ink, as it is not desirable to print a test page whenever the printer is powered on, e.g., after a building power outage.

Please provide a description of how to change the printer settings to prevent test pages from auto-printing, including screenshots of the HP Smart software settings menus, e.g., in the iOS app or Windows app.

Hi @Disgruntled27,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To prevent the HP DeskJet 2700 from automatically printing an alignment test page every time it is turned on, follow these guidelines.

Ensure Alignment Completed:

  • Make sure you've completed the alignment process at least once. Place the printed alignment page on the scanner bed and scan it as prompted. The printer usually stops printing these pages if it has successfully completed the alignment once.

Use HP App:

  • Download and Open the HP App: If you haven't already, download the HP app from 123.hp.com or your device’s app store.
  • Access Printer Maintenance:
    • Open the HP app.
    • Select your printer from the app's home screen.
    • Navigate to the Printer Maintenance or Tools option.
  • Disable Alignment on Startup:
    • Look for an option related to printer maintenance settings that might allow you to modify or skip alignment settings. This might not be available in all printer models or software versions.
  • Update Firmware:
    • Ensure your printer’s firmware is updated via the app as updates can sometimes resolve unwanted repetitive processes.

Offline Printer Settings (if available):

  • Printer Control Panel:
    • If your printer has a display with navigation buttons, check through the menu for printer settings or maintenance options related to alignment.
  • Disable via Embedded Web Server (EWS):
    • If accessible, type the printer's IP address into a web browser. This will open the printer’s EWS where you might locate more detailed settings. Login if needed and browse the settings for startup tasks or alignment.

Note:

  • If you can't find a setting to disable the alignment page, it’s often helpful to ensure that the printer completes alignment once satisfactorily.
  • Keep your printer’s firmware updated for potential features or fixes related to alignment processes.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hello @Raj_05,

I understand that your reply is meant to be helpful, but it does not address the problem. After completing the alignment process, if the printer is turned off and on again, the test page and alignment process happens again. This is wasteful and also prevents needed print jobs from executing.

My HP DeskJet 2700 printer does not have a display with navigation buttons.

Your recommendations to “Navigate to the Printer Maintenance or Tools option” and “Look for an option related to printer maintenance settings that might allow you to modify or skip alignment settings” is not helpful. I looked for such settings before posting and did not find settings like this. Do you have a screenshot of where I can find these in the HP Smart apps? E.g., in the iOS or Windows apps?

“This might not be available in all printer models or software versions.” - Is this setting available in the HP DeskJet 2700 series?

It does not seem like you read the original post closely or are familiar with the HP DeskJet 2700 printer series. Is there anybody else who might be able to help?
