The display on 9015 printer stays lit constantly even though power saving option is set to 5 minutes.  I have unplugged for 60 seconds and unselected and reselected the power saving mode.

Hello,

Before I walk you through the correct checks, I need a bit more detail — the OfficeJet Pro 9015 has two different sleep-state behaviors depending on firmware version, panel sensor status, and network configuration. Each can prevent the display from ever dimming.

Please confirm the following so I can narrow it down:

1. Exact model

Is it OfficeJet Pro 9015, 9015e, or 9010-series variant?

2. Firmware

Do you know if the printer recently installed a firmware update?
(These models routinely install updates overnight.)

3. Front-panel behavior

When the screen “stays lit,” is it:

  • Fully bright?

  • Dimmed but not off?

  • Or does it wake back up immediately after dimming?

4. Connections

Is the printer connected by USB, Wi-Fi, Ethernet, or multiple connections at once?
(Ethernet + Web Services is a known cause of constant wake events.)

5. Web Services / Cloud Print

Is Web Services enabled on the printer?
If yes, does the printer show an Instant Ink or HP account login screen?

Why I’m asking

On the 9015 series, the most common causes of “won’t sleep” are:

  • Panel proximity sensor locked in “detected” state

  • Firmware handling of Web Services polling

  • Network broadcast/ping packets waking the printer

  • A stuck background job in the print subsystem

But I need your answers to determine which one applies.
