HP Envy 6032 printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have just bought a new HP Envy 6032 printer.  When not used for a while, the light above the paper tray stays on.

Does the printer go into sleep mode, and if so, do the lights go out?  No doubt there's not much power being used by the lights, but it is still power being used when the machine is not in use.....thanks

@Paul3011

Thank you for posting on HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, I have a few troubleshooting steps we could try to fix the issue:

Sleep mode automatically puts the printer into a lower-power state after a set period of time of non-use. The printer returns to its normal power state when you send another print or scan job.

A printer in sleep mode might display some of the following characteristics:

  • The control panel display is dark

  • The power light is slowly pulsing

  • The power light is dim

To get the answer to this question, No. Sleep mode cannot be disabled, although on some printers you can change the inactive time before the printer enters sleep mode. To find out if you can change the sleep mode time, see your printer's user guide from here: http://h10032www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c05632129

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
