Step-by-Step Recovery for HP Printer with All Lights On

1. Perform a Full Power Reset

This helps clear internal memory and reset hardware sensors.

  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Unplug the power cord from both the printer and the wall outlet.
  3. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  4. While unplugged, open the ink cartridge access door and gently remove and reinsert the cartridges.
  5. Close the door, plug the printer back in, and turn it on.

You might hear the printer recalibrate; that’s a good sign.

2. Check for Ink Cartridge Issues

If the printer still doesn’t detect ink:

  • Remove and reinsert the cartridges firmly.
  • Clean the cartridge contacts
    • Use a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water.
    • Gently wipe the copper-colored contacts on the cartridge and the corresponding contacts inside the printer.
  • Make sure you’re using genuine HP cartridges. Non-HP or expired cartridges can trigger errors.
