Hi @Robertt28,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like there might be a mismatch or misalignment issue when printing double-sided on your HP OfficeJet Pro 7740. Here are a few steps you can try to resolve this problem.

Check Paper Settings:

  • Ensure that the paper size and type settings in the printer settings match the actual paper loaded in the tray. Sometimes, using incorrect settings can cause misalignment.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer. Updating the firmware can sometimes resolve printing issues, including alignment problems.

Calibrate Printer:

  • Many printers have a calibration or alignment function that can be accessed through the printer's menu or settings. Running this calibration process might improve alignment.

Adjust Print Quality Settings:

  • Experiment with different print quality settings. Sometimes, using a higher quality setting (like normal quality) can lead to misalignment due to how the printer handles paper feeding and drying times.

Check Paper Alignment Guides:

  • Ensure that the paper guides in the input tray are snug against the paper stack. Loose guides can cause paper misalignment during printing.

Clean Paper Feed Rollers:

  • Over time, paper feed rollers can accumulate dust and debris, leading to inconsistent paper feeding and alignment issues. Clean the rollers following your printer's manual instructions.

Print Preview:

  • Use the print preview option if available in your printer settings or software. This can help you see if there are any obvious alignment issues before printing.

By following these steps, you should be able to improve the alignment when printing double-sided on your HP OfficeJet Pro 7740.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
