@JJborgo, Hello and welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your question. I'm here to help you get things back on track.

The E3 error code on your HP Smart Tank 7006 typically indicates a carriage jam, even if no paper jam is visible. Since you mentioned the printer was recently moved, it's possible the ink carriage got slightly misaligned or obstructed during transport.

Here are the steps to resolve the issue:

Power Cycle the Printer

  • Turn off the printer and unplug the power cord.
  • Wait for 60 seconds.
  • Plug it directly into a wall outlet (avoid surge protectors).
  • Turn the printer back on and check if the error clears.

Check the Carriage Path

  • Open the ink cartridge access door.
  • Manually slide the carriage left and right gently.
  • Look for any obstructions like packing material, paper bits, or ink spills.
  • Ensure the printhead latch is securely closed.

Reset the Printhead Assembly

  • If the carriage doesn’t move freely, gently press down on the printhead assembly to ensure it’s seated correctly.
  • Close the access door firmly.

Check for Internal Paper Bits

  • Even if no paper jam is visible externally, inspect the rear access area and input tray for any small torn pieces of paper.

Update Firmware (Optional but Recommended)

  • Visit the Official HP® Support
  • Download and install the latest firmware to ensure optimal performance.

Additional Tips

  • Ensure the printer is placed on a flat, stable surface.
  • Avoid placing it near sources of vibration or heat.
