Hi @Shivani_Dixit,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
We understand how frustrating it can be to encounter an E3 error on your new HP Smart Tank 589 printer, especially when you're trying to get things up and running on Windows 11. Let’s walk through the steps to resolve this issue.
Steps to Fix E3 Error
1. Check for Obstructions in the Carriage Path
- Turn off the printer and unplug the power cord.
- Open the cartridge access door.
- Gently slide the carriage side to side.
- Remove any paper scraps, labels, or packing material that may be blocking the path.
- Do not tilt the printer; this may cause ink to spill.
2. Check the Carriage Latch
- If your printer has a latch on the carriage, ensure it is securely locked.
- Do not press down on the latch if it’s already secured this could damage the printer.
3. Reset the Printer
- Disconnect the power cord from both the printer and the wall outlet.
- Wait 60 seconds.
- Plug the power cord directly into a wall outlet (not a surge protector).
- Turn the printer back on.
4. Try Printing Again
- Once the printer powers on, try printing a test page to confirm the issue is resolved.
