Hi @Bears249,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The E6 error on an HP Envy 6458e typically indicates an issue with the printer’s paper feed mechanism or an internal component. Here are steps you can take to try and resolve the E6 error:

Step 1: Check for Paper Jams

Open the Paper Tray:

  • Remove any paper from the paper tray and inspect it for jams or obstructions.

Open the Printer:

  • Open the front and rear access doors (if applicable) to check for any paper stuck inside.Remove any visible paper or debris carefully.

Check the Paper Path:

  • Look inside the printer to ensure there are no small pieces of paper or foreign objects obstructing the paper path.

Step 2: Reset the Printer

Power Cycle the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.Wait for about 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • If power cycling doesn’t work, try a hard reset by unplugging the printer, waiting a few minutes, then plugging it back in and turning it on.

Step 3: Check and Reset the Printhead

Open the Printhead Access Door:

  • Open the access door to the printhead.

Remove and Reinstall the Printhead:

  • Gently remove the printhead and inspect it for any obstructions or damage.Reinstall the printhead securely.

Check for Obstructions:

  • Ensure that there are no foreign objects or paper stuck around the printhead area.

Step 4: Update Printer Firmware

  1. Check for Firmware Updates:
    • Visit the HP Support website and search for your printer model.Download and install any available firmware updates.

Step 5: Perform Printer Diagnostics

  1. Run a Diagnostic Test:
    • Use the printer’s built-in diagnostic tools to run a test. This option can typically be found in the printer's control panel under Setup > Tools or Diagnostics.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
