Hi,
I hope somebody can be of assistance. My hp officejet 3831 suddenly shuts down and does not restarts. After a couple of days it suddenly jumps to live again. I can print several papers and shuts down again. Each time i get the following error code 0xb950c06c or 0xb950c05c (I cannot really distinguish the last number 5 or 6). Can anybody tell me what to do? Many thanks.

@PDB12341, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
Restart the Printer
- Turn off the printer.
- Disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer and from the wall outlet.
- Wait for about 60 seconds.
- Reconnect the power cord to the wall outlet and the back of the printer.
- Turn on the printer.
Check for Paper Jams
- Open the printer and check for any paper jams or obstructions. Remove any stuck paper carefully.
- Inspect the printer's feed path for small pieces of paper or debris.
Check the Printhead
- Turn off the printer and open the ink cartridge door.
- Check if the printhead or cartridges are installed properly.
- If needed, try removing and reinstalling the cartridges.
- Clean the printhead if you notice any ink buildup or debris.
Update or Reinstall Printer Drivers
- Ensure your printer’s firmware is up to date. You can check HP’s website for the latest version and update the printer if needed.
- Try reinstalling the printer drivers on your computer as outdated drivers can sometimes cause communication errors.
Perform a Reset on the Printer
- You can try a factory reset, which can help if there’s a software issue causing the shutdowns.
- To reset the printer, go to the printer’s control panel, select "Setup," then "Printer Maintenance," and look for a "Restore Defaults" or "Reset" option.
Check Ink Cartridges
- Ensure that the ink cartridges are properly installed and have sufficient ink. If any cartridge is low or empty, replace it.
Check the Power Supply
- Ensure the power cord is securely plugged into both the printer and the wall outlet.
- If the printer is plugged into a power strip or surge protector, try plugging it directly into the wall to rule out any power issues.
I hope these steps help resolve the issue
