@SD06102025, Welcome to the HP Support Community – it’s great to have you here!

I appreciate you taking the time to share your question. I'm more than happy to assist with this and provide a solution that works for you.

If your HP LaserJet M1005 MFP is showing “Error Printing” on Windows 11, but scanning works properly, it usually indicates a driver or communication issue specific to the print function. Let's walk through the steps to resolve it:

Check Printer Status in Windows

  1. Press Windows + R, type control printers, and press Enter.
  2. Right-click on HP LaserJet M1005 and select See what's printing.
  3. If there are stuck print jobs, click Printer > Cancel All Documents.
  4. Right-click the printer again and ensure Set as Default Printer is selected.

Reinstall the Printer Driver

HP LaserJet M1005 uses a basic print driver on Windows 11. Follow these steps:

Uninstall existing driver:

  • Go to Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features.
  • Uninstall any HP LaserJet M1005 software or drivers.

Download and install the correct driver:

  • Visit the official HP support page: Official HP® Support
  • Download the HP LaserJet M1005 Basic Print Driver.
  • Run the installer and follow on-screen instructions.

Check USB Connection

Since scanning works, USB is likely connected but still:

  • Try a different USB port (preferably USB 2.0).
  • Avoid using USB hubs or extenders.
  • Use a short, direct USB cable.

Restart Print Spooler Service

  1. Press Windows + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
  2. Scroll to Print Spooler, right-click, and choose Restart.

I hope your issue is now resolved. If not, feel free to reply and we’ll continue helping until everything’s sorted!
