Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

HP Envy 4500 series (A9T80A) hangs on "Now printing alignment page..."

I cannot clear this message; I cannot return to "Home".

I have done a hard reset (with cartridges removed).*

Firmware is up to date.

As a side issue, wireless scanning no longer works. Is the printer dead?

* Hard reset from another forum entry:

» Remove all ink cartridges from the printer, then close the door

» With printer turned on, disconnect power cord from rear of printer and also unplug power cord from wall outlet.

» Remove USB cable, if present.

» Wait 2-3 minutes, press and hold power button on printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.

» Now plug power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord and then plug back the power cord to printer.

» Turn on printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and printer is idle.

» Now install the ink cartridges

» Try printing a document
