Hi @Cohosh,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand how frustrating it is when your HP ENVY Photo 7800 printer won’t wake up, especially when you need it ready for important tasks. Let’s walk through the steps to help bring your printer back to life.

Steps – Printer Won’t Wake Up or Respond
1. Perform a Power Reset

This helps clear any temporary hardware or firmware glitches.

  1. Turn off the printer using the power button.
  2. Unplug the power cord from both the printer and the wall outlet.
  3. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  4. Plug the power cord directly into a wall outlet (avoid surge protectors).
  5. Reconnect the cord to the printer and press the power button.

This simple reset often resolves wake-up issues.

2. Check Power Management Settings

Your printer may be in deep sleep due to energy-saving settings.

  • Open the HP app.
  • Go to Printer Settings > Advanced Settings > Power Management.
  • Disable or adjust Auto-Off or Sleep Timer settings.

Some models have a preset auto-off feature that cannot be changed, but adjusting sleep settings may help.

3. Update Printer Firmware

Outdated firmware can cause wake-up failures.

Make sure the printer is powered on and connected to Wi-Fi before updating.

4. Check for Display or Button Response

If the screen remains blank and buttons don’t respond:

  • Try pressing the power button for 10 seconds.
  • Look for any blinking lights or sounds.
  • If there’s no response at all, the issue may be hardware-related.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
