I am randomly getting a black vertical line on the right of pages printed in portrait mode and at the bottom of pages printed in horizontal mode when printing Word documents. It looks similar to a "border" but no borders are requested. It is inconsistent.

Welcome to the HP support community.

 

I understand that you are getting black lines while printing, I am glad to assist you.

Did you make a copy and check if that prints fine?

 

Meanwhile:- 

Print a Print Quality Diagnostic page and check if that prints

  1. On the control panel, swipe down to open the Dashboard, and then touch the Setupicon.

  2. Swipe up on the display, touch Reports, and then touch Print Quality Report.
