HP ENVY 6455e All-in-One Printer

HP6455e printer. Error 6 flashing and can’t resolve issue. Tried unplugging but did help.

I understand you are getting the E6 error on the HP ENVY 6455e All-In-One Printer, accompanied by flashing lights, which typically indicates a problem that requires attention. 

 

Here are some steps to troubleshoot and resolve this issue:

Check for Paper Jams:

  • Open all access doors (including the ink cartridge access area and the rear door) and remove any visible paper jams.
  • Ensure there are no small pieces of paper stuck inside the printer.

Reset the Printer:

  • Unplug the printer from the power source.
  • Wait for at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug the printer back in and turn it on.

Inspect the Ink Cartridges:

  • Open the ink cartridge access door.
  • Remove and reinsert the ink cartridges to ensure they are seated properly.
  • Check for any protective tape left on the cartridges and remove it if found.

Clean the Ink Cartridges and Printhead:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it.
  • Gently clean the electrical contacts on the ink cartridges and printhead using a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with distilled water.
  • Allow them to dry before reinserting the cartridges and turning the printer back on.

Ensure Proper Installation of the Paper:

  • Ensure that the paper is loaded correctly in the input tray and that it is not overfilled.
  • Adjust the paper guides so they fit snugly against the paper.

Firmware Update: Update the firmware on an HP printer

  • Sometimes, updating the printer's firmware can resolve persistent errors. Check the HP website for any available firmware updates for your printer model and follow the instructions to install them.
