Hi @aaa169

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The error code 0x83c0000b NOS_INIT C typically occurs on HP printers and can be related to issues with the printer’s firmware or a more complex system malfunction. Here are some steps you can try to resolve the error:

1. Power Cycle the Printer

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for about 30 seconds to 1 minute.
  • Plug it back in and turn it on.
  • This is often the simplest solution and can clear temporary errors or glitches in the printer.

2. Perform a Hard Reset

  • A more thorough reset might be needed:
    1. Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
    2. While unplugged, press and hold the power button for 30 seconds.
    3. Plug the printer back in and turn it on.
  • This helps clear any residual power and resets internal settings that might be causing the error.

3. Check for Printer Firmware Updates

  • The error code might be related to outdated firmware, and updating the firmware could resolve the issue.
  • Check the HP website or use the HP Smart app (if installed) to see if there are any firmware updates available for your printer model.
    1. Open the HP Smart app or go to HP Support online.
    2. Download the latest firmware for your printer model and follow the on-screen instructions to update it.

4. Reset the Printer’s Network Settings (if using wireless)

  • If your printer is connected to Wi-Fi, there may be an issue with the network connection that’s causing the error.
  • To reset the printer’s network settings:
    1. On the printer, go to Settings or Network Settings.
    2. Select Restore Network Defaults (this will disconnect your printer from the current Wi-Fi network).
    3. Reconnect the printer to your Wi-Fi network by following the setup instructions.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

I have tried a hard reset but when the printer is plugged back in it restarts itself and the error code reappears on the screen and I cannot do anything with the printer

I'm having the exact same issue. Nothing I do will take the error message away. It seems many people are having this problem.

Hi @nkreinberg

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're encountering the Error Code 0x83c0000b NOS_INIT C on your HP printer. This issue has been reported by a number of users and can occur due to various reasons such as software glitches, connection issues, or even firmware problems. Here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue:

1. Power Cycle the Printer

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for 30 seconds to 1 minute, then plug it back in and turn the printer on.
  • This simple reset can sometimes clear minor errors.

2. Check the Printer’s Firmware

  • The error might be related to outdated or corrupt firmware. Make sure your printer’s firmware is up to date:
    • Open the HP Smart app or go to HP Support on the website.
    • Search for the latest firmware for your printer model and follow the instructions to update it.
    • You can also check for updates through the printer’s control panel if it has a touchscreen.

3. Run HP Print and Scan Doctor (for Windows)

  • Download and run HP Print and Scan Doctor from the official HP website. It can diagnose and fix several issues related to printing, including connection problems, software issues, or print errors.
  • The tool can be helpful in identifying the cause of the error and may automatically resolve it.

4. Reset the Printer to Factory Defaults

If the issue persists after trying the above, you may need to reset the printer to factory settings. This will clear any incorrect settings that could be causing the error:

  • On the printer’s control panel, go to Settings or Network Settings.
  • Find the option for Restore Defaults or Reset.
  • Follow the prompts to reset the printer and then reconnect it to your network.

5. Check Network Connectivity (for Wireless Printers)

If your printer is connected wirelessly, there may be a network issue causing the error. Ensure that:

  • The printer is properly connected to your Wi-Fi network.
  • Your Wi-Fi signal is stable and strong enough to support the printer's connection.
  • The printer and your computer are on the same network (some printers may struggle if connected to different Wi-Fi bands, such as 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz).

6. Reinstall Printer Drivers

Sometimes, the error can be caused by corrupt or outdated printer drivers. Try uninstalling and reinstalling the printer drivers:

  • Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers > Right-click on your printer and select Remove Device.
  • Then go to HP’s website to download the latest drivers for your printer model.
  • Install the drivers and reconnect your printer.

I hope this helps.
