Error Ox6100004a on HP Office Jet Pro 6960 - first paper jam, and then not switch off correctly and then this printer error. Does not want to clear. Followed all the solutions advised. Looks like cartridges is stuck. Manage to get it to move again, removed all the cartridges and checked for any paper jams, but nothing. Put the cartridges back and now getting the same error and cartridge head stuck again

Hi @AJordaan,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The error code 0x6100004a on your HP OfficeJet Pro 6960 usually indicates an issue with the printhead or a problem with the printer's internal components. Here are some steps you can try to resolve this issue.

Power Cycle the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord from the printer and the wall outlet.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet and the printer.
  • Turn on the printer and check if the error persists.

Check for Paper Jams and Obstructions:

  • Open the ink cartridge access door.
  • Remove any paper or debris you see inside the printer.
  • Carefully move the printhead manually to see if it can move freely. If it’s stuck, gently try to free it.

Reset the Printer:

  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Wait at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
  • Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  • Turn on the printer.

Remove and Reinsert the Ink Cartridges:

  • Turn on the printer and open the ink cartridge access door.
  • Wait for the print carriage to move to the center.
  • Remove each ink cartridge.
  • Check for any obstructions or debris in the cartridge area.
  • Reinsert the ink cartridges and ensure they are seated properly.

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Unplug the power cord from the printer while it is still on.
  • Disconnect any other cables, such as USB or Ethernet cables.
  • Press and hold the printer's power button for 15 seconds.
  • Release the power button.
  • Plug the power cord back into the printer and turn it on.

Update or Reinstall Printer Firmware:

  • Go to the HP support website and check if there is a firmware update available for your printer model.
  • Download and install any available updates.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, it may indicate a more serious hardware problem with the printhead or another internal component.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
