Hi @Martin0716,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The error code 0X61000020 on your HP OfficeJet Pro 8720 All-In-One Printer typically indicates an issue with the printhead or an obstruction within the printer. Since you have already tried basic troubleshooting steps, here are some additional actions you can take to resolve this error.

Reset the Printer

  1. Turn off the printer and unplug the power cord from the printer and the wall outlet.
  2. Wait for at least 60 seconds.
  3. Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet and then into the printer.
  4. Turn on the printer and check if the error persists.

Check for Paper Jams

  1. Open the printer cover and check for any paper jams or obstructions.
  2. Carefully remove any jammed paper or debris.
  3. Ensure that there are no small pieces of paper stuck inside the printer.

Clean the Printhead

  1. Open the printer and remove the ink cartridges.
  2. Carefully remove the printhead.
  3. Clean the printhead contacts with a lint-free cloth and a small amount of distilled water or isopropyl alcohol.
  4. Allow the printhead to dry completely before reinserting it.
  5. Reinsert the ink cartridges and close the printer.

Update the Printer Firmware

  1. Visit the HP support website and download the latest firmware update for your printer model.
  2. Follow the instructions provided to install the firmware update.

Check Ink Cartridges

  1. Make sure the ink cartridges are properly installed and seated in the correct slots.
  2. Verify that the cartridges are not empty and are compatible with your printer model.
  3. Replace any problematic cartridges.

Perform a Hard Reset

  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds.
  3. Turn the printer back on and see if the issue is resolved.

Run Printer Diagnostics

  1. Access the printer's settings menu.
  2. Look for the "Tools" or "Maintenance" section.
  3. Run any available diagnostic tests or printhead cleaning cycles.

By following these steps, you should be able to address the error code 0X61000020 on your HP OfficeJet Pro 8720 All-In-One Printer.

I hope this helps.
