Have a C309n printer that is new, but it has been sitting in a storage area for 10+ years.  At startup it continually identifies a General Printer Error 0x61011beb.  Have tried several several ideas posted on the site, but none have cleared the error.  Any thoughts?  Hate to pitch a brand new printer even if it is old year wise.  Thanks.... Walt

I understand your HP C309n printer is showing a General Printer Error 0x61011beb on startup, even though it’s new but has been in storage for 10+ years. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.

Power cycle the printer
– Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, and wait 60–90 seconds.
– Plug it back in and power it on to see if the error clears.

Check for stuck or misaligned components
– Open all doors, trays, and access panels.
– Ensure no packing material, paper, or foreign object is blocking the printer path.

Remove and reseat toner or ink cartridges
– Even if new, sometimes cartridges can become loose or stuck during storage.
– Remove each cartridge, check for protective tape, and reinstall securely.

Inspect internal rollers and sensors
– Check for dust, debris, or misaligned rollers that may have accumulated over storage.
– Clean gently with a lint-free cloth if necessary.

Reset the printer to factory defaults
– From the control panel → Settings → Maintenance → Restore Factory Defaults.
– This can clear persistent error codes caused by firmware or stored settings.

Update printer firmware
– Connect the printer to a PC or HP Smart → Check for updates.
– Even older printers sometimes require firmware updates to reset internal error flags.

I hope this helps.
