Printer is displaying the error code in the subject B834ACE6 and I am not having much luck finding information on that. I have turned off the printer, unplugged for 5 minutes and plugged back in and still have the error. I had a lightning strike near my home 3 days ago and lost power. Could be related to that event, but I did not happen to notice the error until I came to use the printer today. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi @Sammy361,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
You're using an HP OfficeJet Pro 9015 All-in-One Printer with Windows 11, and your printer is displaying Error Code B834ACE6. You've already tried restarting the printer and unplugging it for several minutes without success. You also mentioned there was a recent lightning strike and power outage, which may be related.
The code B834ACE6 is a general hardware error, often linked to:
- Internal firmware corruption
- Hardware damage due to power surges or electrical interruptions
Given the recent lightning strike and power loss, it's very likely the printer experienced a surge event, which may have affected internal components.
Step-by-Step HP Troubleshooting:
Step 1: Perform an Extended Power Reset
- Power off the printer (if it's not already off)
- Disconnect the power cord from both the back of the printer and the wall outlet
- Unplug any USB or Ethernet cables
- Wait at least 5 minutes
- Plug directly into a wall outlet (not a surge protector or UPS)
- Reconnect the power cable and turn the printer back on
If the error persists, continue to the next step.
Step 2: Check for Damage or Burn Marks
Inspect:
- The power cord and power supply
- The printer’s rear ports and interior (open the cartridge access area)
Look for signs of:
- Burnt smell
- Black marks
- Cracked plastic
If you notice any signs of electrical damage, stop here and contact HP directly for service.
Step 3: Attempt a Firmware Recovery (If Accessible)
If the printer screen allows it (before or after the error appears):
- Go to Settings > Printer Maintenance > Update the Printer
- Check for and install any firmware updates
- If the UI is not accessible, proceed to contact HP
I hope this helps.
Take care, and have an amazing day!
