My Envy 5660 is flashing printer error there is a problem with the printer turn it on and off again.  When you cycle the power it pops with the same message.  In between it gets a blue screen with the code C4EB82C3.  I've had it unplugged for a month I've tried turning it off and on, unplugging with power pressed and powering it back on.  I have it connected via USB to see if I can perform an update nothing works.

Its really disappointing as I've probable printed less than 100 pages on this printer before it bricked itself.  In looking at other questions on HP it looks like there is some super secret code to do a hard reset that HP can't just publish because it might damage an already busted printer.  Can someone message me the process before I run this piece of garbage over with my car.

Hi @KReynolds88,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

It sounds like your HP Envy 5660 is showing a persistent error code C4EB82C3 and won’t recover even after multiple power cycles. I understand how frustrating this must be, especially after minimal usage. Let’s go through the steps you can try:

1. Perform a Hard Reset

Unplug the printer from the power outlet.

Press and hold the power button for 60 seconds.

While holding the power button, plug the printer back into the power outlet.

Continue holding the button for another 10–15 seconds, then release it.

Power on the printer normally.

2. Check for Firmware Update via USB

Connect the printer to your computer using a USB cable.

Visit the official HP Support & Drivers page for the Envy 5660.

Download the latest full firmware and driver package.

Install the update to see if it clears the error.

3. Reset the Printer to Factory Settings (if the hard reset works)

On the printer control panel, navigate to Setup → Printer Maintenance → Restore Factory Defaults.

Confirm the reset.

I hope this helps.

Hello i tried the above steps they did not work.  When connected via usb the pc does not see the printer so there is no option to update the firmware.

Hi,

Thanks again for your patience while working through this issue. Since the printer still isn’t being recognized and continues to show the C4EB82C3 error, let’s try a few more advanced steps before moving toward service options:

1. Try a Different USB Connection

Use a different USB cable (preferably shorter, under 6 ft, and not a hub/adapter).

Plug directly into another USB port on the back of your PC.

Restart both the printer and computer before reconnecting.

2. Test in Recovery / Update Mode

Some printers allow forced firmware updates:

Power off the printer.

Hold down “#” + “6” while plugging the power cord back in (or “OK” + “Cancel” on some models).

If the printer shows a special recovery screen, keep it connected via USB and try running the firmware installer again.

3. Reinstall HP Software Suite

Completely uninstall the HP software/drivers from your PC.

Restart the computer.

Download and install the Full Feature Software & Drivers for the Envy 5660 from HP’s support page.

Reconnect the printer by USB only during setup.

4. Attempt Wireless Setup (if USB Fails)

On the printer’s control panel, check if you can still access the Wireless Setup Wizard under Settings.

If wireless works, your PC may detect it over Wi-Fi and allow a firmware update that way.

I hope this helps.
