Hi @Carl225229,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The E6 error code on an HP Envy 6458e All-in-One printer typically indicates a paper jam or a paper feed issue. However, if you don't see any visible paper jams, the problem might be related to the paper feed mechanism or sensors.

Here’s how you can troubleshoot and potentially fix the E6 error.

  • Check for Jammed Paper: Even if you don’t see any paper jams, it’s a good idea to check all accessible areas of the printer, including the paper input and output trays, and any internal compartments. Sometimes small bits of paper can be stuck in places that are hard to see.
  • Inspect Paper Path: Open the printer’s access panels to check the paper path for any obstructions or debris.
  • Remove and Reload Paper: Remove the paper from the tray, straighten it, and reload it. Sometimes improperly loaded paper can cause feeding issues.
  • Check for Foreign Objects: Look for any foreign objects or debris inside the printer that might be obstructing the paper feed.
  • Clean Paper Feed Rollers: Dust or dirt on the paper feed rollers can cause paper jams. Use a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with water to clean the rollers.
  • Restart Printer: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait a few minutes, then plug it back in and turn it on.
  • Reset Printer: Sometimes performing a reset can clear the error. Check the printer’s manual for instructions on how to perform a factory reset.

If these steps don’t resolve the issue, there might be a more complex problem with the printer’s internal components.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
