Hi @Pablo1418,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The HP DeskJet 4122e, like many inkjet printers, has a waste ink pad that collects excess ink used during cleaning cycles and other printer operations. If your printer is showing an error related to the waste ink pad, it's likely indicating that the pad is full or nearing its capacity.

Resetting the Printer's Counter:

  • Many waste ink pad errors can be temporarily resolved by resetting the printer’s internal counter. However, this is usually just a short-term fix and might lead to ink overflow if the pad is indeed saturated.

Replacing or Cleaning the Waste Ink Pad:

  • It usually requires partial disassembly of the printer to access the waste ink pad. This process varies depending on the printer model and is typically handled by professionals or experienced users.
  • After replacing or cleaning the waste ink pad, the printer’s waste ink counter should be reset to avoid false error messages.

Note:

  • It’s important to handle any waste ink carefully, as it can be messy and is considered a pollutant.
  • Ensure you follow local regulations for disposing of ink-soaked materials.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
