If your HP DeskJet 2700 series printer has a flashing light near the color icons, it usually indicates an issue with the tri-color ink cartridge. Here are some possible reasons and solutions:

Possible Causes & Fixes

Low or Empty Ink Cartridge

• Open the front cover and check the ink levels.
• If low, try replacing the tri-color cartridge with a new one.

Cartridge Not Installed Properly

• Remove the cartridge and reinstall it firmly in its slot.

Dirty or Clogged Cartridge Contacts

• Turn off the printer and unplug it.
• Remove the tri-color cartridge.
• Gently clean the gold contacts on the cartridge with a lint-free cloth and isopropyl alcohol.
• Let it dry and reinstall it.

Cartridge Compatibility Issue

• Ensure you're using a genuine HP 305, 305XL, 67, or 67XL ink cartridge (depending on your region).
• If using refilled or third-party cartridges, try an original HP cartridge to see if the issue persists.

Firmware or Software Issue

• Restart the printer by unplugging it for 2 minutes and plugging it back in.
• Ensure the HP Smart App is up to date.
• Try printing a test page to check if the issue is resolved.

Ink Cartridge Failure

• If the issue continues after troubleshooting, the cartridge may be faulty. Try replacing it.
