The error code 0x61000020 on your HP OfficeJet Pro 8720 All-in-One Printer typically indicates an issue related to the ink system or paper feed mechanism. Here are some steps you could follow:
Restart the Printer
- Turn off your printer and unplug the power cord.
- Wait for at least 60 seconds.
- Reconnect the power cord and turn the printer back on.
- Try printing again to check if the error persists.
Check for Paper Jams
- Open all accessible printer doors (input tray, output tray, rear access door) and inspect for any paper jams or debris.
- Gently remove any stuck paper. Ensure no torn pieces are left inside.
- Close all doors securely.
Clean and Reseat Ink Cartridges
- With the printer turned on, open the ink cartridge access door.
- Wait until the carriage moves to the center.
- Remove the ink cartridges and inspect them for any residue or leaks.
- Clean the electrical contacts on the cartridges and the carriage using a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water.
- Reinsert the cartridges firmly and close the access door.
Perform a Power Reset
- With the printer on, disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer and the wall outlet.
- Wait for at least 2 minutes.
- Plug the power cord back in and turn the printer on.
Update Printer Firmware
- Download and install the latest firmware updates. here is the link for your printer's latest firmware update.
Reset to Factory Defaults
- From the printer's control panel, go to Settings > Printer Maintenance > Restore > Restore Factory Defaults.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to reset the printer.
