Officejet Pro 6970
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Have an Officejet Pro 6970. It was connected to network by wireless but now by ethernet. My Windows 10 Pro laptop (connected to home network by wireless) used to be able to print no problem until about 2 weeks ago. Now I consistently get an Error Printing on... message. (The desktop connected to home network by cable is able to print no problem.)

I removed the device and uninstalled/reinstalled the HP drivers and software. I have run HP Print and Scan Doctor. Cannot print test page (although it will print "internal" test page).

I came across post with similar problem and followed the recommendations of the HP employee. Turned off printer, disconnected power, powered off router, powered down laptop... turned on router, waited 30 seconds, turned on laptop, reconnected power to printer, turned on printer. I have assigned a static IP to the printer. I consistently delete print jobs from the queue before trying again. (I was a network administrator for about 16 years and can diagnose/resolve most network/printing problems.) I made sure the laptop has all WIndows 10 updates. Still no success.

Addendum = I saw yet another post, and did "Root delete/uninstall" of the HP drivers. Followed the other reset, reinstall procedures. Same error message.

I am frankly mystified and frustrated. I thought surely I can do the classic uninstall and reinstall procedure. Treat the printer as if it's new and am connecting it for the first time. I have no idea what the problem is or why the desktop can print without any trouble.

I recently upgraded my laptop to Windows 10S.  My HP Envy 5544 stopped printing from this laptop but still works from my other devices.  There doesn't seem to be any new drivers available for this print/scanner and Windows 10S?
