Hi @Schnarr,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP DeskJet 2734E color cartridge light keeps flashing orange, even after attempting resets. Let’s go through a few steps to resolve this.

a. Check Cartridge Installation

Open the printer’s cartridge access door.

Remove the color cartridge and reinstall it, ensuring it clicks firmly into place.

Make sure the cartridge is installed in the correct slot.

b. Check for Protective Tape

Remove the cartridge and confirm that any orange protective tape covering the contacts or nozzles has been removed.

Reinsert the cartridge after removing the tape.

c. Clean Cartridge Contacts

Turn off the printer and remove the cartridge.

Use a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with water to gently clean the gold contacts on the cartridge and inside the printer.

Let contacts dry completely, then reinstall the cartridge.

d. Check Cartridge Compatibility

Ensure you are using genuine HP cartridges compatible with DeskJet 2734E.

Third-party or refilled cartridges can sometimes trigger error lights.

e. Perform a Printer Reset

With the printer powered on, unplug it from the power source.

Wait 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn the printer on.

This can help clear persistent cartridge errors.

f. Align Cartridges

Use the printer software or control panel to print an alignment page after reinstalling the cartridge.

Follow on-screen instructions to complete alignment.

g. Check for Firmware Updates

Open the HP Smart app or visit HP Support to check for any available firmware updates.

Updating firmware can resolve cartridge recognition issues.

I hope this helps.
