I've been using an old DeskJet F340 printer for the past few weeks. Every once in a while it will print correctly, but most of the time it will make loud clunking/banging/grinding noises (I believe that the slide that the Ink Cartridge is on keeps slamming into the far side of the printer.) I was able to get it working again in the past for a few jobs, although I don't know how I did it.
Does anyone know what is happening or how to fix it? There's very little online guides or support, due to how old the printer is. The carts are new, and work, it seems to be a hardware issue with the printer.

When you open the cartridge access door look inside and above the metal rod, you will see a thin plastic strip. Use lint-free cloth and warm water to clean that strip on both sides with your 2 fingers and cloth between fingers as far as you can from left to right. When ink cartridges are in the way move them to the side you cleaned. Don't use a lot of force and be careful not to damage or brake te strip.
