My printer is frozen on startup. I have tried power cycling holding the power button. Nothing works. Can you please tell me how to do a factory reset on the printer?

Hi @Denalli,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP LaserJet 3050 is frozen on startup and the standard power cycling methods aren’t working, performing a factory reset might be necessary. Unfortunately, the HP LaserJet 3050 doesn’t have a direct factory reset option accessible through its menu system when it is frozen. However, you can try a more thorough reset approach:

Steps to Perform a Factory Reset

Turn Off the Printer:

  • Press the power button to turn off the printer.

Unplug the Printer:

  • Disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer.

Wait:

  • Leave the printer unplugged for at least 1-2 minutes to ensure that all residual power is discharged.

Check the Printer for Paper Jam or Obstructions:

  • While unplugged, check for any paper jams or obstructions inside the printer that might be causing it to freeze. Remove any paper jams or debris you find.

Reconnect the Power Cord:

  • Plug the power cord back into the printer.

Turn On the Printer:

  • Press the power button to turn the printer back on.

If the Printer Remains Frozen:

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • With the printer powered on, press and hold the Go button (this is the button with the circle and triangle icon) while turning off the printer. Keep holding the Go button and turn the printer back on. Continue holding the Go button until the printer starts the reset process.

Check for Firmware Issues:

  • If the printer still doesn’t reset or start up correctly, it may be a firmware issue. You might need to download the latest firmware from HP’s support website and update it using a USB connection to a computer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
