HP Officejet Pro 8610 e-All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

I have searched and tried every solution I can find on messenger boards and in person.

I have updated the firmware while ethernet connected, cleaned the printhead, reseated the printhead, cleaned all cleanable areas, restarted multiple times and the printer just continues to not get past the error of Missing/Failed Printhead. This is just the latest in a line of issues including the wireless function not working, not connecting to the network, the hp email to print option not working and not recognizing accepted ink cartridges. Is there anything you can do for me? I'm even open to a trade-in on a refurbished printer of the same or better value...If not, I'm so ready to convert to a Canon or Epson.

Please help.

V/R,

Matt

Hi @CookM,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to assist you.

I understand you're experiencing an issue with your printer that has a printhead error.

I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused, I'm here to help you today.

Please follow the steps below to fix the issue.

A) Perform a power drain.

1) Take out the cartridges

2) Unplug the power cord from the printer & wall.

3) Press and hold the power button down for 15 seconds and release the power button, wait for about 30 seconds.

4) Plug the power cord back into the printer and wall, ensure the printer is plugged into the wall & not into a surge protector.

5) Insert the cartridges back into the printer.

Remove the cartridges > Unplug the power cord > Wait for 30 seconds > Plug the power cord back in > Insert the cartridges

B) Kindly refer to the steps on this link to update the printer firmware and let me know if that resolves the issue.

C) Refer to the steps on this link to further troubleshoot.

D) If the issue still persists, refer to the steps on this link to restore factory defaults and let me know if that resolves the issue.

Followed instructions completely up to 'restore factory settings'.  Attempted to do this twice from printer panel, but restore not completed.  recei ved message 'printer initialization and calibration in progress, do not turn off printer, etc.  Tried again and get same message, guess it's stuck, so no what?  Buy a new printer?
