So I got the dreared 'printhead failed' message on this printer which has had light use. When I saw the cost of new printheads (more expensive than just buying a new printer) I was hugely disappointed as I have 4 very full HP-branded expensive ink cartridges fitted.

I bit the bullet and bought a new printhead and popped it in..... and..... nothing!

The message remains 'the printhead appears to be missing, not detected or incorrectly installed' WHAAAAAT

For goodness sake!

I have reinstalled it, done a printer reset etc etc and nothing. None of it works.

WHAT A WASTE of money.

Is there a solution? If so I would be enormously grateful if anyone (especially HP) can help.

Thanks in anticipation.
