HP LaserJet MFP M140we Printer

M140w printer is not working. It has a fast blinking orange exclamation light, we put in new toner and there is no paper jam that we can see. The printer will print out a status page that states "a problem has occurred and you will be unable to print, except for printer reports until the issue is resolved." Supplies listed as normal status and wireless is connected and good.

Hi @KateW4

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

The fast blinking orange exclamation light on your HP LaserJet M140w printer typically indicates an issue that needs attention. Here are some steps to troubleshoot:

Check for Paper Jams:

Open the printer and inspect for any paper jams or obstructions.

Remove any stuck paper carefully and ensure the paper tray is loaded correctly.

Inspect the Toner Cartridge:

Remove the toner cartridge and check for any damage or debris on the contact points.

Gently clean the cartridge contacts with a lint-free cloth and reinsert it securely.

Close the Printer Cover:

Ensure that all covers and doors on the printer are properly closed. A partially open cover can trigger the blinking light.

Reset the Printer:

Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, and wait for about 30 seconds.

Plug it back in and turn it on to reset the printer.

Update Firmware:

HP regularly releases new firmware versions for printer enhancements, app updates, or issue fixes. Update the firmware regularly to get the most out of your printer.

Click on the link below for instructions on how to update the firmware of your printer.
