My office just purchase a HP Officejet 250. I went to set it up for the first time and updated the software. After updating the software, I am receiving a faulty battery message. I have tried turning it off and unplugging it for 24 hours, but still get message when turn it on. Can you tell me if this is a firmware issue or if we need to replace the battery.

Hi @PCSO
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.
The "faulty battery" message on your HP Officejet 250 could be caused by either a firmware issue or an actual problem with the battery itself.
Here’s how you can troubleshoot and determine the root cause:
Step 1: Check Battery Connection
- Open the battery compartment and ensure the battery is securely connected.
- Remove the battery, inspect it for any visible damage, and reinsert it properly.
Step 2: Charge the Battery
- Connect the printer to a power source and let the battery charge for several hours.
- Check if the error persists after charging.
Step 3: Update Firmware
- Visit the HP Support website and download the latest firmware for your Officejet 250. Update the firmware on an HP printer | HP® Support
- Install the firmware update and restart the printer.
- Verify if the error message disappears.
Step 4: Perform a Hard Reset
- Turn off the printer and disconnect it from all power sources.
- Remove the battery and wait for 5–10 minutes.
- Reconnect the battery and power source, then turn the printer back on.
Step 5: Test Without the Battery
- Remove the battery and connect the printer directly to a power source.
- If the printer functions normally without the battery, it’s likely the battery needs replacement.
