Hi @Tocara,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The error code CFA40D on your HP DeskJet printer typically indicates a hardware issue related to the scanning functionality. Here’s how you can troubleshoot and potentially resolve this issue.

  • Restart the Printer: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve temporary issues. Turn off your printer, wait for about 30 seconds, and then turn it back on.
  • Check Connections: Ensure that all cables connected to the printer are securely plugged in, especially those related to power and data transfer.
  • Update Firmware: Check if there are any available firmware updates for your printer. Updating the firmware can sometimes fix bugs and improve overall performance.
  • Reset the Printer: Perform a power reset by unplugging the power cord from the printer while it is still on, waiting for about 60 seconds, and then plugging it back in.
  • Check for Paper Jams: Even if the error doesn’t specifically mention paper jams, opening up the printer and checking for any stuck paper or debris inside the printer might help.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
