HP Photosmart 6510 e-All-in-One Printer - B211a
macOS 12.0 Monterey

Intermittently, I see 6 flashing lights on perimeter of main control pane screen:  Left Side - (Home , Back, Reverse Change (curved Arrow)) Right Side (Question Mark (?), Forward Arrow and Red X). Power light and Wireless light blinking too. All light are blinking at the same time.

I am running MAC OS Sequoia.

New HP certified carts. installed, tried resetting (power down , removing carts, unplugging,, wait 60 sec., holding down power button and then re-plugging power source.) To get to the LCD panel, I shut down and restarted (with no errors or flashing lights).

Firmware is latest available.

Once in the LCD panel I did a "restore to factory settings" and all went well in reconfiguring. Ran Report, Align Heads, Clean heads etc. Printed document fine no issues. (I thought that it may have been the auto shut down settings so I changed them to longest time available). Got all back and running as mentioned, but when I checked next day the same lights were flashing again. All lights flash for about 1/2 second at the same time. . Any ideas

Hi @ShellyDel

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thanks for laying out everything so clearly—it’s clear you’ve already done a ton of thoughtful troubleshooting, and I can imagine how frustrating it is to see those flashing lights return after everything seemed fine.

Let’s try a few more steps to narrow this down and hopefully stop the light show for good. 🌟🖨

🔧 Step 1: Check for Power Supply Irregularities

Sometimes a surge or unstable power source can trigger erratic behavior:

  • Plug the printer directly into a wall outlet (avoid surge protectors or extension cords).
  • Try a different outlet if possible.
  • Confirm the power cable is firmly seated at both ends.

🧼 Step 2: Perform a Full Power Drain

You’ve done a partial reset, but let’s go a bit deeper:

  1. Power off the printer.
  2. Unplug the power cord from both the printer and the wall.
  3. Press and hold the Power button for 60 seconds.
  4. Wait 10 more minutes before reconnecting.
  5. Power it back on and observe the lights.

🧠 Step 3: Check for Internal Error Codes

If the flashing lights persist, they may be signaling a deeper internal fault. You can try running a diagnostic:

🖥️ Step 4: Update or Reinstall Software on macOS Sequoia

Driver compatibility with macOS Sequoia can be tricky. If you haven’t already:

📶 Step 5: Rule Out Wireless Interference

Since the wireless light is blinking too:

  • Move the printer away from routers, cordless phones, or microwaves.
  • Try disabling wireless temporarily and printing via USB to isolate the issue.

If the flashing returns even after all this, it may point to a deeper logic board or sensor fault. But let’s not jump to conclusions just yet—try these steps and let me know what happens.

You’ve been incredibly thorough, and we’re inching closer to a solution! 💪😊
