HP LaserJet Pro M15w Printer
macOS 12.0 Monterey

The printer perfectly prints an error report that unhelpfully states, "Print cannot print. A problem has occurred and you will be unable to print...visit hpsmart.com or more info." When I log into hpsmart.com, there's of course no info other than "needs attention" and, furthermore, it says the printer last synched 1+ years ago and is offline...I have been using this printer perfectly fine over the last year. When I click to manually re-synch the data, it doesn't synch.  I've tried unplugging/restarting multiple times. I even tried buying and putting in a new toner cartridge, even though I had ink left. Obviously, the "virtual assistant" could not compute this problem and I was stuck in a loop.

Thanks anyone for your help.

For anyone who needs it, I performed this factory reset, and I am back to printing:

Factory Reset (if necessary):

  • If the above steps fail, you can perform a factory reset, but please note that this will erase all your printer settings. To do a factory reset:
    • Turn off the printer.
    • Press and hold the Wireless button and the X button simultaneously.
    • While holding both buttons, turn on the printer.
    • Continue holding the buttons until all the lights on the printer's control panel flash. This may take about 10 seconds.
    • Release the buttons, and the printer should reset to its factory settings.
