Hello.

My printer stopped working and this happened after I changed all HP inks to new ones (always use original inks).

On the screen it shows a  code: General printing error 0x61011beb for HP officejet 6500A plus , E710 series.

I understand (from all people comments that faced the same issue) that this is a common error.

I presume it is a set up programme with expiry date. So, we can not do anything and we can not avoid to buy a new hp product.

Please advise if there is any solution for it, because we can not afford to buy a new printer at this time.

Your prompt reply will be highly appreciated.

Hi @evi76

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I'm really sorry your OfficeJet 6500A Plus is showing error 0x61011beb—it’s deeply frustrating when a printer stops working right after replacing ink, especially when you’ve used genuine cartridges. This error typically points to a mechanical or carriage issue, and there are steps you can try to restore functionality without replacing the printer.

Try these steps to clear error 0x61011beb:

1. Power reset the printer

This clears internal memory and resets the carriage.

  • Turn off the printer
  • Unplug the power cord from both the printer and the wall
  • Wait 60 seconds
  • Plug it back in directly to a wall outlet (avoid surge protectors)
  • Turn the printer on and wait for it to fully initialize

2. Check for carriage obstruction

The error may be triggered by a blocked or misaligned printhead carriage.

  • Open the cartridge access door
  • Look for any paper fragments, ink buildup, or loose plastic pieces
  • Gently move the carriage left and right if it’s not locked
  • If it resists, do not force it—just inspect and close the door securely

3. Remove and reseat cartridges

Improper seating can cause sensor faults.

  • Remove all ink cartridges
  • Clean the copper-colored contacts with a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water
  • Reinsert each cartridge firmly until it clicks
  • Close the door and restart the printer

4. Use the HP App to run diagnostics

This can detect deeper issues and guide recovery.

  • Download or open the HP App
  • Select your printer
  • Go to Support > Diagnose & Fix
  • Follow the prompts while the printer is powered on and connected

Let me know if the carriage moves freely or if the error persists after the reset. Once the obstruction is cleared and the cartridges are properly seated, your printer should return to normal operation and be ready to print again.
