Zoey I did everything that you suggested and the printer is still giving me a Print failure message.  It will print about 1/2 of the first page.  This printer has not been used very much.  Please let me know what else I can try before giving up on this printer.

I think the printer is level so I looked for an IP address but could not find one.  Where is that located?  Is that the same as the serial number?  Robin

One more piece of information that might be helpful.  I can print an email.  I haven't tried a two page email but a one page prints perfectly.  It is only when I try to print a document, picture, or off the internet that I have problems.  It will print the first 1/2 of the picture or document and then the second half is blurry.  Please keep helping me.  I want this printer to work!

zoey did you give up on me.  You said you would not.  😞  I still have a nonworking Color Laser Jet Pro MFP M283fdw.  I ask you where the IP address could be found but got no response. I also let you know I can print a one page email completely.  I have even tried putting a document on a flash drive but it still only prints 1/2 of the first page.  I have done everything else you suggested except the part about an IP address since I cannot find it.

@Robin233, Since you're able to print a one-page email but not a document or image, it sounds like the issue might be with the print data processing rather than the hardware itself. Let’s try a few more things:

Check the Printer’s IP Address

The IP address isn’t the same as the serial number. Here’s how to find it:

On your printer’s control panel, go to Setup > Network Setup > View Network Configuration.

If your printer is connected to Wi-Fi, the IP address should be listed there.

If you’re using a USB connection, this step won’t apply.

Print a Test Page Directly from the Printer

Let’s see if the issue is with how documents are sent to the printer.

On the printer’s control panel, go to Setup > Reports > Print Quality Report.

If this prints fine, then the issue might be with the drivers or the software you're printing from.

Update or Reinstall Printer Drivers

If the issue persists, let’s try reinstalling the printer drivers:

Uninstall the current drivers from your computer.

Download and install the latest drivers from the HP Support website.

Restart your computer and try printing again.

Try a Different Print Format

Since emails print fine, let’s test a document in another format:

Save a document as a PDF and try printing that.

If printing from a web browser causes issues, try a different browser or save the page as a PDF first.

I know this has been a long process, but I really appreciate your effort. Let me know how these steps go—I won’t give up on this, and we’ll get your printer working! 😊
