I'm having ghost printing issues on my HP color laser MFP 179 fnw printer. The images are replicated both upwards and downwards (sometimes only downwards) at a distance of approximately 19 cm. I tried cleaning the drum but nothing seems to change. any suggestions? the printer is relatively new (about 1.5 years old) and the drum appears to be very far from end of life (90%). I attach a photo of a print.

Hi @Frappen2008

Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand you're experiencing an issue with your HP device, and I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. I'm here to help you today.

Please try this:

1. Check Toner Cartridges

  • Inspect for damage or leakage.
  • Shake gently to redistribute toner.
  • Swap cartridges to test.

2. Inspect Fuser

  • Check for damage or toner build-up.
  • Replace if worn out.

3. Adjust Print Settings

  • Lower print density or use a lower quality setting (e.g., Draft Mode).

4. Check Paper Quality

  • Ensure correct paper type and no wrinkles.

5. Reset Printer

  • Perform a factory reset to clear settings issues.

6. Update Firmware

  • Check for firmware updates on HP’s website.

7. Run Diagnostics

  • Use the printer’s built-in diagnostic tools for print quality.

8. Check Imaging Drum

  • Inspect for damage or debris.
  • Clean the drum again.

I hope this helps! Keep me posted.
