I am trying to get my printer to start working again and it’s acting like it’s copying but it’s blank when it’s finished? I have replaced my ink cartridge so I am stumped. I don’t have it hooked up to my computer or phone yet is this why. I also use to have to 1st put a cd in my computer to get started but I no longer have my cd

Hi @Kbrackin1,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your HP OfficeJet 4500 Wireless printer is not printing despite replacing the ink cartridge. Here are a few steps you can try to troubleshoot the issue.

  • Check Ink Cartridge Installation: Ensure that the ink cartridge is properly installed. Sometimes, they might not click into place correctly, which can cause printing issues.
  • Run Print Quality Diagnostic: Most printers have a diagnostic or print quality test page function. Use this feature to see if the printer can produce any ink on the page. This can help determine if the issue is with the printer or the connection.
  • Connect to Computer or Phone: While some printers can operate independently for copying, many require a connection to a computer or phone to print documents. Ensure your printer is connected either via USB to your computer or wirelessly to your home network for printing.
  • Driver and Software: Since you mentioned needing a CD to install software previously, you might need to download the latest drivers and software from the HP website. This will ensure your printer has the necessary software to communicate with your computer or phone.
  • Clean Printhead: Inkjet printers can sometimes have clogged printheads, especially if they haven't been used for a while. Most printers have a cleaning utility in the settings menu that can help resolve this issue.
  • Check for Error Messages: Look at the printer's display panel or any error messages that might indicate what the problem is. Sometimes printers can give specific error codes that can be looked up in the user manual or online.
  • Factory Reset: As a last resort, you can try performing a factory reset on your printer. This will restore it to its default settings, potentially resolving any software issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
