I understand the frustration when the HP OfficeJet 4630 won’t power on, and you’re asked to remove cartridges. It feels impossible because the carriage is locked when the printer is off. Here’s what you can do:

1. Try a Hard Reset

• Unplug the printer from the wall outlet.
• Disconnect all cables (power and USB).
• Press and hold the Power button for 30 seconds.
• Plug the printer directly into a wall outlet (avoid surge protectors).
• Try powering it on again.

2. Check Power Source

• Test the outlet with another device.
• If possible, try a different outlet.
• Inspect the power cord for damage.

3. Cartridge Access Without Power

Unfortunately, the carriage lock only releases when the printer is powered. If the printer won’t turn on:

• Do NOT force the cover open; it can damage the mechanism.
