HP Envy 6132e All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

Just set up my new printer and all seems to be working fine. Got up the next morning to find the screen lit up and the power and wifi lights are showing. I thought it was meant to go into sleep mode and shut down.

I have it set for 5 mins sleep mode and 20 mins shut down.

The screen does switch off it seems but then comes back on randomly.

Am I doing something wrong here? Should I just switch off at the back?

@Paul456123, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

It seems like your HP Envy All-in-One Printer is not behaving as expected when it comes to sleep mode and shutdown. No worries, let's see if we can troubleshoot this!

Check Sleep Mode Settings:

Even though you have the sleep mode set for 5 minutes, the printer may be waking up for some background tasks, like checking the Wi-Fi connection or updating settings.

You can go into the printer settings via the control panel or HP Smart app and ensure the sleep/shutdown settings are correct and match what you want.

Disable Automatic Wake:

Some printers wake up when they detect activity from connected devices (like when they receive a print job). If your printer is still connected to your network or another device, it might be waking up on its own.

You can try disconnecting it from the Wi-Fi temporarily to see if it stops waking up on its own.

Firmware Update: Update the firmware on an HP printer | HP® Support

Go to the HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads page. Enter your printer model number and search for the latest firmware update. Follow the instructions to download and install the firmware update.
