Hi @farmhead

Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand you're experiencing an issue with your HP device, and I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. I'm here to help you today.

If your HP 7645 printer is showing the "Photo tray blocked" message despite adjusting the tray, here are some additional troubleshooting steps you can try:

Check for Obstructions:

  • Inspect the photo tray for any paper jams or debris that might be blocking it. Sometimes even a small piece of paper can cause this error.

Reinsert the Tray:

  • Remove the photo tray completely and then reinsert it, ensuring that it clicks securely into place.

Check Alignment:

  • Make sure that the photo tray is aligned correctly and that the paper is loaded properly. The paper guides should fit snugly against the edges of the paper.

Reset Printer Settings:

  • Sometimes, resetting the printer to factory settings can help. Check the printer's menu for an option to reset.

Firmware Update:

  • Check if there’s a firmware update available for your printer on the HP website. Updating the firmware can resolve many issues.
  • Click HERE to update the firmware

Clean the Tray Sensor:

  • There may be a sensor that detects the tray’s presence. If you can locate it, gently clean it with a soft cloth. Dust or residue can sometimes cause false readings.

Test with Different Media:

  • If you are using specific photo paper, try a different type of paper or even regular printer paper to see if the issue persists.
