HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus e-All-in-One Printer - N911g

I had a depleted  black HP 950 cartridge so I purchased a new one. I inserted the new HP cartridge like I normally do and received an error message on the screen saying  "There is a problem with the printer or ink system. Turn printer off, then on. If problem persists, contact HP." So I though that I just had a bad or defective cartridge and returned it to the store and exchanged for a new one. I put the new exchanged one in a received the same mess again. So I put the depleted one back in for now and the error goes away but just states I have a depleted cartridge and I need to replace. I press the OK button and printer is fine. Anyone have the same issue? Any help or insight on this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
