HP Officejet 8620
macOS 11.0 Big Sur

My HP 8620 has printed great for a couple of years.  A couple of weeks ago, it got stuck printing 2-sided but it stopped after I reset it to the factory default settings.  Today, after printing 1 job 2-sided, I can't get it to stop printing 2-sided.  I reset the factory default settings, deleted the printer and reinstalled it, checked for any updated drivers and there were none.  I do not want to have to print all of my documents one page at a time to avoid this.  My computer operating system is macOS 11.4 Big Sur.  Any suggestions?

@ThomasTeam2009, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

To assist you better,

  • Which application are you trying to print from?
  • Have you tried printing different types of documents like PDF, Word, or Webpages and check if the issue persists?

Update the printer firmware

Click here to download and install the latest printer firmware from your Mac.

Click here to know different methods of updating printer firmware.

Also, check for any software updates on Mac

Click the Apple icon > About This Mac > Software Update and install any available update.

It could be that you have a preset that has the 2-sided printing as default.

  1. Open a document, or webpage, click File, and then click Print to open the print dialog.

  2. If a Show Details button displays at the bottom of the dialog, click it to reveal all available menu options. The button changes to Hide Details when clicked.

  3.

    Check Presets.

    Print dialog in macOS
  4. Make sure 'Two-sided' is not checked. Also, go to the un-named menu and click on Media & quality - Turn off 2 sided.

  5. Try printing.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
